If your RX560 does not show you video output even once the OS has loaded, you will need to make sure that there are no foreign video drivers on your OS, shutdown and then start your Mac with the RX 560, or reinstall Mac OS.

If you're gonna use a GeForce card, you will need to install the OS with the stock card, install the official Geforce driver, and then swap the cards, otherwise you will get an error. I've never really seen an Radeon card that's properly flashed. There are some cards that are sold by third parties that are flashed to show the mac boot screen, but there are expensive and it only apply for some cards, not all. Only the stock cards that came with your MacPro that have a Mac ROM will show you that.

Unlike for Mojave, there is an official Nvidia Geforce driver released for High Sierra and you should be able to use an Nvidia card(I used to have a GTX 1050ti and an GTX 980TI), but again, retail cards, so they will NOT show you a boot screen. It happens like that with my RX580.Īdditionally, if you're gonna run High Sierra, you don't really need a metal capable card. Keep in mind t's a retail card, this means it's not flashed with the Mac ROM and you will NOT see a boot screen, this means that the OS has to load and you should get video output once you're at your MacOS login screen. From what I know, that card should work with your MacOS, they are natively supported but at an OS level, the hardware was never updated for them. You could also try putting both cards in (if they both dont need aux power) and hook up 2 displays, one to each card. If you can control it, then you know it is at least alive, and might be able to do some further troubleshooting like looking in About This Mac to see what card IT thinks it is, trying to switch resolutions, etc. Now you can swap the RX 560 back into the mac, give it a couple minutes to hopefully boot, then you can try to remote control it from the other Mac. Test to make sure it works before swapping cards again.

Put the original card back into the Mac Pro and boot the machine up. If there is a power connector and it isn't plugged in, you won't get video. First off, does that card need auxiliary pcie power? I see some like the Aero don't and some others from MSI do.
